Covid-19

(Washington, D.C.) – September 6, 2023 – First Lady Jill Biden tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, September 5, 2023. She is experiencing mild symptoms and is isolating at the Biden family home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

President Joe Biden tested negative for the virus on Monday. He is scheduled to travel to India on Thursday for a G20 meeting.

The first lady is fully vaccinated and has received boosters. She is the second person in the Biden family to test positive for COVID-19. President Biden tested positive for the virus in July 2022.

The White House said that the first lady is “doing well” and is “following the advice of her doctors.” She is expected to remain isolated until she tests negative for the virus.

The first lady’s positive test comes as the United States is experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases. The highly contagious BA.5 subvariant of the Omicron variant is now the dominant strain of the virus in the United States.

The White House has urged Americans to get vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. The Biden administration has also released new guidance on how to protect yourself from the virus.

The first lady’s positive test is a reminder that COVID-19 is still a serious threat. However, the vaccines and boosters are highly effective at preventing serious illness and death. If you have not yet been vaccinated or boosted, please do so. It is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19.
